Suppose you had a friend or a family member that only ever spoke to you when they needed your help with something?
When things are going well for them, they have no use for you. They never want to hang out with you and talk, or text or call you.
But the minute they’re in trouble or they need help with something, they call you and expect you to drop everything and come to their rescue.
As soon as you do, and their situation is resolved, they go right back to barely ever speaking to you or spending any time with you. How would that make you feel?
Suppose this went on for years? But because you love them, you continued to do what you thought was right by them and give, give, give. You continued to love and support them because you care for them.
Do you think you’d get annoyed after awhile? Do you think you might even get angry after years of this? You might begin to pull away from giving this person gifts, and bailing them out every single time, until they showed some gratitude, respect and responsibility, right?
Wouldn’t you want them to at least try to develop a real relationship with you, instead of just using you in times of trouble?
I think most of us would answer with a resounding “Yes!” to all of the above.
Here’s my point: How do you think God feels when you do the same thing to Him?
Think for a moment how He must feel when MILLIONS of us, His family members, do this to Him?
Just something to think about….
As long as you’re above ground, it’s not too late to develop a relationship with God. Just go somewhere quiet by yourself and talk to him, as you would a friend.
